A 26-year-old motorcyclist and father of a 9-month-old girl was killed in a collision on the Jersey Shore last week, authorities said.
The driver of an SUV was ticketed for careless driving and making an improper turn, Berkeley Township police said.
The motorcyclist, identified as Daniel Wisnewski of Beachwood, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said on Friday, Sept. 9.
On Tuesday, Aug. 30 at 5:11 p.m, Berkeley police responded to 804 Pinewald-Keswick Road for a report of a motor vehicle crash with a motorcyclist down into the woods.
Officers began performing life-saving measures along with Berkeley EMS and Robert Wood Johnson Medics. Several cycles of CPR were performed on the victim, however, they were unsuccessful, police said.
Words of loss and condolences were shared on this GoFundMe page organized by Wisnewski’s sister in support of his infant daughter, Luna Sage.
Preliminary investigation indicated that a 2020 Hyundai Tuscon driven by Joseph Rider, 73, of Whiting, pulled out of a parking lot to head west on Route 530 when a collision occurred with the motorcycle which was heading east, police said. This caused the motorcycle to leave the roadway.
Summonses were issued to Rider for careless driving and improper turn, police said.
The accident is currently being investigated by Patrolman Michael Bulwinski of the Berkeley Township Traffic Safety Bureau.
